Saturday: Speaking class preparation - Topics of conversation

6.1. Well done on completing the activities this week. In preparation for the speaking class, I am posting the conversation questions so that you can have a think about what you might say when talking responding to these questions with your speaking partner:

  • What is happening in the area that you live? What are you seeing in response to the coronavirus pandemic?
  • Do you think that the pandemic is bringing people closer together?
  • Do you agree with the author of the article? Do you think that people are mostly good?
  • What acts of prosocial or antisocial behaviour have you witnessed in the last couple of months?
  • What has been your 'lockdown' experience?
  • Has your view of the world been affected by the pandemic and the world's response to it?

We might not get a chance to talk about all of these topics in the speaking class, but they are great questions to think about. To help with your preparation, feel free to post any initial thoughts in the comments below and even just make your own notes that you can bring to the class. Researching useful vocabulary beforehand will also help prepare you and improve your overall fluency when participating in the discussions. Post any questions you might have below so I can answer them in advance.

Good luck, and see you in the speaking class!
